Hey Alyssa! Haven't talked to you in a while. I have a question - do you know where the rumors came from that Taylor wrote "Permanent Marker" for a girl who broke Austin's heart came from? And is it possible that this rumor could be true? (I thought that it was weird at first but then I looked at the lyrics more and it kind of makes sense.) Thanks!

I have no idea! I had always wondered that myself because that seems weird to me too that someone would think that and I defietly don’t think it’s true because when she performed it live back in 2007 (and I’ve seen 10+ videos of her performing it live so she probably said this several times) she would introduce it as being about when you’ve got a boyfriend who’s got an ex-girlfriend who doesn’t know she’s an ex-girlfriend. I’ve never heard her mention Austin which she probably would if it were about him and I think it’d be weird anyway if it were about him because she put it in her point of view as if she were his new girlfriend. So my guess would be that it’s either about Drew or Sam depending on if it was written in 2005 or 2006 which I can’t quite tell because the picture I have of the demo CD it’s on is so low quality that I actually can’t tell. haha I think it says 2005 which would mean Drew but since it didn’t make the first album she didn’t start performing it until 2007 because she was thinking of putting it on Fearless. Forever and always didn’t replace it though because she said she just added it to the end. Which makes me think she did that with White horse too and was originally planning on putting 11 songs on there just like she did with her first album. I don’t know for sure but that just kind of makes sense because then on Speak now she would’ve put 13 songs on there but then she wrote Never grow up and added that on. Not sure about Red but I imagine she’ll never have an album from now on with more than 16 songs on it so from now on there’ll probably only be 16 or less because 16 is already a lot. 1989 only has 13 songs by the way, that was confirmed by Target along with the co-writers of each song. She only wrote one by herself (number 11) and the Dianne Warren co-write didn’t make it on there. :/ Not even on the deluxe version which has 3 bonus songs and 3 voice memos (I’m so excited for those!) but she did write 3 to songs with Ryan Tedder to make up for it. Oh, and I’m going to add 1989/live stream facts soon (and I can confirm them because I was there! She touched my hair!), I just haven’t yet because I’ve had limited internet access for the last few days.

That’s interesting because she wasn’t recording for Fearless until November or December 2007 (I think December but when she was about to record Change she said she just wrote it the night before and she wrote that in November so that confused me) so that gives an even clearer timeline for when she wrote White horse and therefore Love story (because she said she had written it just a few weeks before) although I always knew she wrote them around that time. She wrote Tell me why around that time about that same guy too but earlier than White horse I think. I’m not sure though, I just know Love story was written before White horse but not by long.

I thought it was weird when I heard she said that because I’m sure tons of people still ask her for her autograph (or at least she still gives them to people but I’m sure most people do) but the way she worded it was that not a single person had since the invention of the iPhone with the front facing camera but with as famous as she is I don’t think that could possibly be true although I don’t know how recent that invention is (although I see her sign autographs all the time still) and I’m sure more people would want a picture so they can prove they met her and have something visual to remember it by. I know I would but I would want an autograph too, just not as much because I already have one. It would be cool to have a personalized one though from actually meeting her! :)

She did! Did I tell you that or did xloveswift? Because someone who went to school with Taylor and was a family friend of hers told her that and she told me. I don’t remember if I told you but if I did it was a while ago because I found that out like two years ago or something. She didn’t tell us what it was called just that she remembered that one and she thought the CD she made her had the I heart ? demo on it but she couldn’t really remember what the other songs were because she hadn’t listened to it in years and her ex-boyfriend broke it. I’m assuming it was about Marjorie because she was really close to her (I think she may have lived with them at some point but I’m not sure) and she died when she was 13 (I always wondered if that’s why the number ended up being so lucky for her. Like it’s her grandma doing it or something haha) which was the after she started writing songs. Her other grandma, Rose, died when she was only like 4 so she probably didn’t really know her and wouldn’t have bothered writing a song about her. That would be pretty random anyway. Although that girl (I don’t know her name, sorry) didn’t meet her until she was 14 because she’s from Tennessee so by then it was probably an old song unless she didn’t write it until later like maybe for the one year anniversary or something? I don’t know, I don’t know anything about it, just that she wrote one about her. Well, one of her grandmas anyway but I’m assuming it was her. Maybe I could ask xloveswift to ask her.

In a newspaper when she was 12, Taylor said something like, "I've written about 100 songs. I haven't written with a co-writer yet, but I'm hoping to do that this summer." Something like that.

Are you sure that wasn’t the No longer an Outsider article from when she was 14? She said in that one she had written 101 songs although it doesn’t say anything about co-writers. There’s only like one article I’ve ever seen from when she was 12 that mentioned her songwriting but I don’t remember it saying anything like that in there. That was called hitting a high note. What was the article you read called? Do you have a link to it? I’d love to add it to my site if it’s one I’ve never seen. Although it’s frozen right now for some reason. And I believe you that she said it by the way but I’m just not sure it’s true. That would be a lot of songs to write in a short amount of time and it would be weird if she did write 100 songs to then say she had only written 101 when she was 14 and 200 or 250 or whatever she said shortly before her first album came out when she was 16.
